Mokosh Restaurant Villa Toncic
Villa Tončić, a striking Secession villa in the centre of Split, Croatia, captures the essence of early 20th-century architecture. Originally designed by architect Kamil Tončić, this historic building has evolved from a summer residence to a restaurant. Studio 502 has carefully updated it to blend its architectural heritage with modern living.
The restoration builds on the villa’s natural symmetry. The central salon now serves as the heart of the space, featuring custom woodwork and thoughtful art pieces by Croatian artist Jelena Bando that connect the villa’s past with its present.
On either side of the central space lie two distinct rooms: the Blue Salon and the Green Salon. The Blue Salon retains its original murals, now enhanced by contemporary furnishings, including pink sofas and bold black tables. In contrast, the Green Salon features new wall designs inspired by the Secession art movement, creating a fresh take on historical patterns.
Studio 502 focused on bringing modern comfort to this historic space while preserving its character. Using materials and design elements that complement the villa’s original features, we’ve created a renewed Villa Tončić that feels timeless and welcoming.
